Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy

ABA is an evidence-based practice that includes interventions to improve the quality of life for the individual. Behaviour Analytic techniques are implemented to decrease problem behaviours and/or to teach new skills not yet in a person’s repertoire. Board Certified Behaviour Analysts (BCBAs) are clinicians who practice ABA, will create a plan specifically for your child. The skill goals within a child’s plan drive each therapy session. You receive feedback on your child’s progress after each session. Our behaviour analysts provide ongoing parent and family support to ensure your child’s new skills also happen outside of therapy sessions.

To get started, please contact us for an intake meeting. A Behaviour Analyst will conduct an assessment session, which is used to create your child’s treatment plan, referred to as their ABA Ed Plan and ABA Therapy services Indiana. The Behaviour Analyst will meet with you to review and discuss therapy recommendations, including goals and the number of weekly therapy hours.

The most common argument against integrating Applied Behaviour Analysis in school districts is that it works through rote memorisation or that students are just mimicking answers and behaviours. School administrators need to know that this is not how ABA therapy operates.

Although repetition and imitation are a part of the initial treatment, they do not necessarily lead to the final result. ABA is about creating new neural pathways in the brain that help children understand concepts and behaviour.

ABA therapy requires that certain behaviours are repeated until the brain can learn new behaviours. This is similar to how children learn to spell words by memorising them when they’re young.

If your child has recently been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, it is likely that you have heard of ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis Therapy). ABA is a rare form of autism treatment and is the only one that has been scientifically proven to work.
